Phillip Roberts

Custom Capital Consulting was founded by Phillip Roberts following more than three decades in international banking, structured credit and private capital advisory, after over a decade of experience gained as an aeronautical engineer in the RAF and as a Technical Instructor for BAE Systems in the Middle East.

His experience includes aviation, marine, real estate, art, collections and specialised asset-backed transactions across multiple jurisdictions. He has extensive experience advising where private and corporate balance sheets intersect, particularly in relation to ownership structures, asset-backed financing and liquidity planning.

Today, every mandate remains personally led, ensuring clients benefit from direct access, institutional discipline and rigour, and absolute discretion throughout the transaction lifecycle.

Advisory Philosophy
“Complex capital does not require complicated advice. It requires clarity, structure and the judgement to know which doors to open — and which to leave closed.”

Operating Principles

Three principles govern every mandate.

Discretion

Confidentiality is the operating condition of the firm. Conversations, mandates and outcomes remain private throughout the engagement and beyond.

Structure

Recommendations rest on the mechanics of the transaction — the asset, the credit, the jurisdiction, the counterparties. Structure is where the transaction needs are delivered and value is protected.

Precision

Fewer mandates, executed properly. Terms are negotiated with care, documentation is scrutinised, and timelines are managed without drama.

Client Mandates

Engagement Philosophy

Every engagement begins privately, with a candid discussion of the client’s objective — whether liquidity, acquisition, refinancing or restructuring. From there, the asset and credit position are assessed in detail, the appropriate structure designed, and the right capital partners approached on a selective basis.

Terms are negotiated on the client’s behalf, counsel and counterparties are coordinated, and the mandate is led personally through to completion. The client deals with one principal throughout, and decisions are made on the merits of the transaction rather than the constraints of a standard product.

Where a mandate cannot be properly executed, the firm declines it. That discipline is itself a form of advice.

Next Step

An initial discussion carries no obligation — only clarity on whether the firm is right for your requirement.
